The Board of Directors hopes everyone is doing well during these difficult times. We continue to monitor the situation to determine if any of the local, provincial or federal guidelines impact our community.

2020 AGM
The 2020 Annual General Meeting will be held on May 17th at 12 noon this year. Because of the current situation with COVID-19, the meeting will be held virtually. Information about how to join the AGM by phone or video conference will be provided in the agenda that will be emailed to all members on May 10th.

Road Condition
The Board has received a number of comments that the road is in 'not bad shape', although there are a few areas that have suffered from a snowy winter. Please watch for deep potholes and drive slowly:

  • If your vehicle has four-wheel drive, please use it on the hills. It will reduce the chances of spinning your tires and causing washboarding.
  • Please have a cell phone with you at all times - if something happens, you need to be able to contact someone for help.
  • Keep an eye out for debris.

  • Road Work
Work has been done to fix up a few of the ditches and a couple of culverts that were allowing spring melt and storm water to get onto the road. Also, a half dozen 'nuggets' have been removed from the road, the most noticable was the one painted orange on the hill up from Highway 7. There are however quite a few that have surfaced that could still present a risk to the underside of vehicles, so please watch out for them.

    Road Fees
Thanks to those who have already paid their full road fees for this year, however to date that's still only at 40% of the members who'll be able to vote at the AGM.
Road Fees for 2020 are due on (or before) the 2020 AGM on May 17th at noon. Due to the COVID-19 situation we are only accepting road fees via the YLC website at online payment.
There are still a number of members (AHC, SM, GH, DB, JM, BVD) who have not paid their previous years' fees. Back due fee payments must made by Interac e-transfer to the President. If you don't know how much is due, or how to send the payment, please contact the board by clicking this link: Request Account Update.

    Bears - Excerpted from Bear-Wise
Bears want to avoid humans. Most encounters are not aggressive and attacks are rare. But if you feel a bear poses an immediate threat to personal safety, you need to act. Call 911 or local police if a bear:

  • Enters or tries to enter a residence
  • Stalks people and lingers in the area
  • Call the Bear Wise reporting line at 1-866-514-2327 (April 1-November 30) if a bear is:

  • Roaming around, checking garbage cans
  • Breaking into a shed where garbage or food is stored
  • In a tree
  • Pulling down a bird feeder or knocking over a barbecue
  • Moving through a backyard or field but is not lingering
